Moms, dads, brothers and sisters, aunts and uncles, grandparents — and you. You’re volunteers. You’re donors. You’re sponsors. Most of all, you are the March of Dimes. You care about your babies, and you care about all babies. Each of you shines like a star for everything you do.
Dee Snider, best known as the front man for the 1980s heavy metal band “Twisted Sister,’’ took on a new lead role this year as Honorary Chairman of March of Dimes Bikers for Babies®. Dee speaks out on behalf of his four children — two were born prematurely. He’s leading the pack to help other babies be born healthy. In addition to his work as a radio personality, television host, author, voiceover artist, screenplay writer and actor, Dee loves to ride his two motorcycles. After riding with the Connecticut Chapter for three years, Dee created and chaired Dee Snider’s Bikers for Babies in Long Island, NY. In 2008, he kicked into high gear appearing at multiple events and starring in a new high octane TV ad.
After winning the 2007 Hell’s Kitchen, Chef Rahman “Rock” Harper brought his frying pan notoriety to the role of 2008 National Celebrity Spokesperson for March of Dimes Signature Chefs Auction®. Chef Rock served up his best to the March of Dimes throughout the year with an unprecedented effort to raise awareness and dollars. He traveled to more than a dozen cities and appeared at nearly 30 events. Chef Rock, a father of two, inspires volunteers and generates thousands in donations when he talks about his own experience of losing a child and then having a child with a heart defect.
Gretchen Carlson — Celebrity volunteer mom and co-host of Fox & Friends on FOX News Channel, Gretchen Carlson helped kick off March for Babies season with an interview of the National Ambassador Family. Gretchen also led two March of Dimes National Communications Advisory Council editorial lunches.
