TITLE: Assistant Community Director
REPORTS TO: Division Director
LOCATION: Buffalo, NY
REASON FOR OPENING: Replacement
POSITION PURPOSE:
To direct, organize, coordinate and manage all fundraising activities under the
direction of the Division Director and to recruit, develop, retain necessary volunteers, organizations, and associations to implement their activities.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Meet or exceed fundraising goals.
- Recruit, orient, train, and monitor performance of volunteers to organize events that meet or exceed fundraising goals.
- Manage and provide leadership to volunteer committees on each event in assigned area to ensure that committee members are fully supported and accomplish tasks required for successful event.
- Develop and maintain working relationships with community leaders and organizations to promote March of Dimes message, build support for March of Dimes mission, and maintain volunteer involvement in March of Dimes activities and programs.
- Work with media to publicize mission/events, and secure local sponsorship for events to heighten public awareness and reach fundraising goals.
- Develop and implement events to recognize, reward, and motivate successful volunteers.
- Work with program staff and volunteers to ensure that every event contains program content to enhance the knowledge of the audience and general public regarding the March of Dimes mission, programs, special services and benefits for mothers and babies.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A minimum of 1-2 years experience as a fundraiser or similar position in a not-for-profit organization with emphasis on fundraising and volunteer development.
- Experience working with executive level business leaders and media in the community.
- Ability to assume independent responsibility, take initiative, and manage numerous responsibilities simultaneously.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to communicate Foundation mission to diverse constituencies
