TITLE: Director of Program Services and Public Affairs
REPORTS TO: New England Collaborative Director
LOCATION: Concord, NH
REASON FOR OPENING: New Position
POSITION PURPOSE:
The Director of Program Services and Public Affairs is responsible for the day to day overall management of all program functions in four state area (Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont) and to act as a link between the regional office and the New England Collaborative in carrying out the programs and objectives of the Foundation. Principal role and responsibilities include staff management, providing leadership in the maternal and child health community, program planning and management, advocacy, volunteer development, and revenue development and budgeting.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Recruit, develop, lead, retain and manage two part-time staff.
- Recruit, develop, lead, retain and manage volunteers.
- Develop chapter program-based goals and objectives and implement plans for same through staff and volunteer participation.
- Act as staff liaison for volunteers, ensuring that they are provided with an orientation and ongoing training.
- Assist in program funding development and budget management.
- Communicate Foundation’s mission and programs with staff, volunteers and community.
- Develop strategic partnerships to further the goals of the Collaborative and Foundation.
- Work to achieve and maintain a proactive and visible community image, assuring that the March of Dimes is recognized as a valued community agency.
- Provide leadership in meetings or programs in maternal-child health field.
- Maintain sound relationships within state and local community agencies, including the State Legislature in each of the four states, and a contract lobbying consultant where necessary. Serve as a state/local resource on the needs of babies and mothers.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Master’s degree in public health, public administration, public policy, administration, nursing, or maternal/child health, or 5-7 years equivalent work experience
- Not-for-profit experience; experience in staff management and team development, volunteer recruitment, development and relationship building; government affairs, strategic planning, and in revenue development. Strong communication, problem solving, implementation, planning and organizational skills.
- Excellent management and interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Ability to function in a fast paced environment and deal with multiple priorities
- Cross-state experience desirable
