If you are pregnant, or concerned about newborn screening, here's what you can do:
- Go to www.marchofdimes.com/nbs to find out which March of Dimes-recommended tests are offered by your state.
- Talk to your pediatric care provider to see if your baby needs supplemental newborn screening.
- If yes, find out where you can get supplemental screening and make arrangements well before your due date for your baby to be tested. Ask your insurance carrier if supplemental screening is covered under your plan.
- Contact your local March of Dimes chapter to learn how you can help in your state.
- If you want newborn screening to become a top priority, contact your U.S. Senators and Representatives. If you need help with the names and addresses of your national representatives, go to www.senate.gov or www.house.gov.
