In 2000, there were substantial differences by race in the proportion of mothers who received early prenatal care. White mothers were the most likely to receive prenatal care in the first trimester (85.0 percent), followed by Asian or Pacific Islander mothers (84.0 percent) and African-American mothers (74.3 percent). Native American mothers were the least likely to receive early prenatal care (69.3 percent). |
