WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., JUNE 18, 2007 – Ken May, President and Chief Executive Officer of FedEx Kinko's, has been elected Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the March of Dimes Foundation, it was announced today.
“Ken May is a strong and effective volunteer leader for our mission, especially our Prematurity Campaign,” said Dr. Jennifer L. Howse, President of the March of Dimes. “We look forward to Ken's leadership as we work towards our goal of giving every baby a healthy start in life.”
Mr. May's daughter, Alexa, was born 12 weeks prematurely, weighing only 2 pounds and spent three months in a neonatal intensive care unit. Mr. May and his wife, Tosha May, credit March of Dimes-funded research with helping their daughter survive. A long-time volunteer for the Foundation, he was elected to the national board in 2004 and chaired the annual WalkAmerica fund raiser for the North Texas March of Dimes in Dallas in 2006.
Mr. May succeeds James E. Sproull Jr. of Atlanta who completed his term on the board, and served three years as chairman.
“We are grateful to Jim Sproull Jr. for more than 20 years of dedicated volunteer service and especially for his inspired leadership as our chairman,” said Dr. Howse.
Mr. May joined FedEx Corporation in 1982 and has served in numerous management and senior officer positions at FedEx over the past 25 years. He was named CEO of FedEx Kinko's in 2006.
Mr. May is a graduate of the University of Memphis and holds a master's degree in business administration from the University of Tennessee. He is a member of the Dallas CEO Roundtable and Young Presidents' Organization. A native of Memphis, Tennessee, he currently lives in Dallas with his wife and daughter.
The March of Dimes is a national voluntary health agency whose mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth, and infant mortality.
