Three Named to March of Dimes Board of Trustees


KATHLEEN BEHRENS ELECTED TO NATIONAL BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF MARCH OF DIMES
        
NEW YORK, N.Y., SEPTEMBER 20, 2007 – Kathleen Behrens, Senior Vice President, Community & Player Programs, for the National Basketball Association (NBA), has been elected to the National Board of Trustees of the March of Dimes Foundation, it was announced today.

March of Dimes trustees, who serve as volunteers, represent the public in governing the organization and advancing its mission.

“Kathy Behrens shares and understands our commitment to improving the health of America's babies,'' said Dr. Jennifer L. Howse, President of the March of Dimes.

In her role with the NBA, Ms. Behrens oversees the group that, in addition to marketing current and former NBA players, integrates all of the NBA's program that promote player social and community responsibility and support player growth and  development.

Prior to the joining the NBA in 2001, Ms. Behrens served six years as Executive Director of New York Cares, a nonprofit organization that mobilizes volunteers to help New York City's neediest residents. During her tenure, both the volunteer corps and revenue base more than doubled. Prior to joining New York Cares, Ms. Behrens served in the administration of former New York Governor Mario M. Cuomo.

Ms. Behrens is a graduate of the University of Hartford. Behrens and her husband Gerry have twins and live in Westchester County, New York.

JOHN R. BURBANK ELECTED TO NATIONAL BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF MARCH OF DIMES
        
NEW YORK, N.Y., SEPTEMBER 20, 2007 – John R. Burbank, chief marketing officer for AOL, has been elected to the National Board of Trustees of the March of Dimes Foundation, it was announced today.

March of Dimes trustees, who serve as volunteers, represent the public in governing the organization and advancing its mission.

“John shares our goal to give every baby a healthy start in life. We look forward to working with him in the future,'' said Dr. Jennifer L. Howse, President of the March of Dimes.

In his current role with AOL, Mr. Burbank is responsible for leading the company's global marketing strategies and programs, managing market research and brand development.

Prior to his job with AOL, Mr. Burbank was Vice President of Marketing for AT&T through the transition from AT&T Wireless, Cingular and then AT&T. He was responsible for major advertising campaigns, segment marketing programs and exclusive content distribution programs with leading entertainment brands such as HBO, Saturday Night Live, American Idol and others. Earlier in his career, he served in marketing positions at NewPower Company, Procter & Gamble and the Chicago Tribune Company.

Mr. Burbank received a BA and MBA from the University of Chicago. He and his wife, Kris, live with their three children Henry, Andrew, and Ellen in Connecticut.

JONATHAN SPECTOR ELECTED TO NATIONAL BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF MARCH OF DIMES
        
NEW YORK, N.Y., SEPTEMBER 21, 2007 – Jonathan Spector, CEO of The Conference Board, Inc., the world's leading business membership and research organization, has been elected to the National Board of Trustees of the March of Dimes Foundation, it was announced today.

March of Dimes trustees, who serve as volunteers, represent the public in governing the organization and advancing its mission.

“Jon is a dedicated volunteer who shares our goal to give every baby a healthy start in life,'' said Dr. Jennifer L. Howse, President of the March of Dimes.

Mr. Spector was past Vice Dean of Executive Education at The Wharton School. At Wharton he created new strategies that resulted in record growth, and expanded the leadership role for their executive education division. He is co-founder of an experimental project “We Are Smarter Than Me,'' a book slated to be published this fall about harnessing the power of crowds in business.  Mr. Spector was also CEO of Seurat Company, a high tech marketing services firm. He enjoyed a 20-year career at McKinsey & Company, where he was a senior partner and helped build the firm's practice across Asia.

Mr. Spector serves on many boards within the March of Dimes. He is a member of the Finance and Pension Investment Committees and a member of the Volunteer Leadership Council. In addition, he is a Board member and former Chair of the March of Dimes Massachusetts chapter.

Mr. Spector holds a BS degree in math and economics from Wesleyan University in Connecticut and a MBA from the Harvard Graduate School of Business. Mr. Spector and his wife Wendy have four children and reside in Weston, MA.
