Saving Babies Wristbands: Showing Passion Through Fashion

March of Dimes Wristbands mean hope for Premature Babies

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., FEBRUARY 14, 2005 –  In an effort to raise awareness of its efforts to fight the growing rate of premature birth, the March of Dimes is now offering pink and blue tye-dye "saving babies" awareness wristbands. The wristbands, which come in youth and adults sizes, went on sale this month.

The goal is to sell 1,300 wristbands a day in honor of the 1,300 babies born premature each day in the United States.

"The wristbands are kid tested and mother approved," said Jane Massey, March of Dimes Chief Operating Officer.

"The mothers of premature babies helped us develop this design to create awareness for our mission. The pink and blue colors mean hope for all babies." The March of Dimes logo and website appear  inside the wristband.

In 2003, the March of Dimes launched a national campaign to decrease the growing rate of premature birth and raise public awareness regarding the seriousness and future consequences of this national crisis.

The wristbands can be ordered by going to the March of Dimes website at http://www.marchofdimes.com/ and clicking on the ‘awareness wristband' link at the bottom right hand of the homepage. The bands are $1 each, individually packaged, and can be ordered in packs of 10, 50 or 100. For those prefer to order by mail, there is an order form on the website that can be printed out. Wristbands will be delivered within four weeks of purchase.
