  Two New Members Elected to National Board of Advisors of March of Dimes

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., JULY 19, 2000 – Calvin Hill and G. Brent Minor have been elected to the national Board of Advisors of the March of Dimes, it was announced today.

March of Dimes trustees and advisors, who serve as volunteers, represent the public in governing the organization and helping it realize its mission to serve America’s mothers and babies.

Calvin Hill
Mr. Hill has been a volunteer for the March of Dimes since 1998, when he was named to the March of Dimes Board of Trustees. A former professional athlete, he played 13 seasons in the National Football League. As a leading advocate for athletes and education, he serves as a consultant to many national organizations and businesses, including the Dallas Cowboys. He has helped form substance abuse support groups and has written widely on sports and academics. Mr. Hill lives in Great Falls, Virginia, with his wife Janet Hill, a corporate consultant. They are the parents of Grant Hill of the Detroit Pistons.

G. Brent Minor
G. Brent Minor, Vice President of LaSalle Bank FSB in Chicago, has been a March of Dimes volunteer since 1981. In 1992, he was elected national chairman of the March of Dimes National Office of Volunteers (NOV). He served in that capacity for three years before becoming chairman of the Northern Region of the NOV. Mr. Minor also is a member of the Board of Directors of the Illinois chapter of the March of Dimes. Previously, he chaired the Greater Chicago Area chapter Board of Directors and its Development Committee.

He also serves as Vice Chairman of the Board of the Greater Chicago State Street Council, which manages, preserves, and renovates Chicago's downtown area. Mr. Minor, who is married with three children and four grandchildren, resides in Mt. Prospect, Illinois.


The March of Dimes is a national voluntary health agency whose mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects and infant mortality. Founded in 1938, the March of Dimes funds programs of research, community services, education, and advocacy to save babies.
