NBC Today Show Highlights WalkAmerica

New York, NY, April 22, 2003--National March of Dimes WalkAmerica Sponsors Famous Footwear, CIGNA, GUM® brand of oral care products, Kmart, and Discovery Health lent their walkers to kickoff WalkAmerica 2003 on the New York City plaza of NBC The Today Show, the most-watched morning talk show with 6.4 million viewers.



Today Show Hosts Matt Lauer and Katie Couric conduct part of their nationally-televised morning program backed by March of Dimes WalkAmerica national sponsors Kmart, CIGNA, Famous Footwear, GUM® brand of oral care products, and Discovery Health Channel.

After the segment, Lauer and Couric took time to sign autographs and talk with the WalkAmerica volunteers on the NBC plaza in New York City.




NBC Weatherman Al Roker lent his support to this year's March of Dimes WalkAmerica as he interviewed walkers from the Walk's national sponsors - Kmart, CIGNA, Famous Footwear, GUM® brand of oral care products, and Discovery Health Channel -  on The Today Show, the #1 morning talk show in the nation.  Standing behind Roker is Tony Choppa, national campaign director.  WalkAmerica's goal for 2003 is $94 million.



March of Dimes WalkAmerica national sponsors Kmart, CIGNA, Famous Footwear, GUM® brand of oral care products and Discovery Health Channel cheer for Walk on NBC's The Today Show.  Thousands of volunteers like these will walk this weekend, April 26-27 to prevent birth defects and premature births.  To participate or donate call 1-800-525-WALK or go to WalkAmerica.com.
