TITLE: State Director
REPORTS TO: Area Director
LOCATION: Albuquerque, NM
REASON FOR OPENING: Replacement
POSITION PURPOSE:
The State Director has overall accountability for the management of all chapter staff and coordination with volunteers in the implementation of Foundation policies and programs.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain close and frequent working relationships with regional and national staff and chapter volunteers regarding the direction and coordination of chapter operations and implementation of fundraising, program activities and chapter administration.
- Plan and implement annual fundraising campaign and explore and develop new sources of income for the Foundation. Coordinate and manage chapter program activities and develop and promote new programs that enhance March of Dimes visibility.
- Administer all chapter functions for staff including employment, performance and salary reviews, work assignments, training, counseling, and terminations.
- In conjunction with volunteers, prepare and administer the chapter budget. Review and approve all expenditures and ensure that the chapter’s financial affairs and records are administered and maintained in accordance with the Foundation’s policies and accounting procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- A minimum of 3-5 years experience as an Executive Director, fundraiser or similar position in a not-for-profit organization with emphasis on fundraising, community organization and volunteer recruitment and development.
- Outstanding leadership, interpersonal and team building skills.
- Experience dealing with government, civic, business leaders and media in the community.
- Ability to assume independent responsibility, take initiative, and manage numerous responsibilities simultaneously.
- Excellent oral and written communication; ability to communicate Foundation mission to diverse constituencies.
