TITLE: Development Director
REPORTS TO: State Director
LOCATION: Raleigh, NC
REASON FOR OPENING: Replacement
POSITION PURPOSE:
To organize and manage all activities in the division including fundraising, committee and board functions, volunteer management, communications, programs projects, community services and staff supervision.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop, with staff and volunteers, a plan and schedule for chapter fundraising campaign/events to meet financial goals. This includes developing income and expense budgets, event logistics, volunteer recruitment and event evaluation/assessment
- Develop and maintain relationships with key corporate and civic community leaders, organizations and associations.
- Strategically plan new ways of achieving chapter financial goals
- Recruit and develop volunteer leadership. Develop volunteer development committee and community boards and serve as staff liaison.
- Market sponsorship opportunities to the corporate community.
- May hire, direct, train and supervise fundraising staff
- Recruit and develop donors for Major Gifts and Annual Giving Campaigns.
- Work with program staff and volunteers to ensure that every event contains program content to enhance the knowledge of the audience and general public regarding the March of Dimes mission, programs, special services and benefits for mothers and babies
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and education
- Three years experience in fundraising or related field such as sales with successful track record of income growth
- Excellent management, organizational, interpersonal and communications skills
- Ability to function in a fast paced environment and deal with multiple priorities
