Get Involved

Volunteers are the driving force behind the foundation, giving generously of their time and talent to serve in a variety of ways. Currently we also need the following volunteers:
March for Babies: Volunteers are needed in communities across the state to sell sponsorship opportunities, recruit volunteers and new teams, and to plan and implement kick-off, rally and walk day activities. Special Events: There are many opportunities available for involvement with the Signature Chefs Auctions (Birmingham and Mobile), Bikers for Babies (gateways are statewide - all ride to Talladega Superspeedway), Alabama Citizen of the Year Testimonial Dinners (Birmingham and Montgomery) and Blue Jeans for Babies (statewide). Join one of the steering, revenue, auction or decorating committees or just help out on the day of the event. Program Services: Seeking volunteers state-wide to coordinate outreach to mission families and to plan and implement activities for these families; to represent the March of Dimes at community events, such as health fairs; to maintain inventory and re-stock NICU Family Support Centers at hospitals; to assist with planning and implementation of Prematurity Awareness Day/Month events; and to assist with planning and logistics of professional and public health education initiatives. We need individuals with good organizational skills, good communication skills, and who enjoy working with others. We also need individuals with maternal child health, public health, rural health, social work, or grant writing experience to assist with our professional committees and activities. Public Affairs: Seeking professionals state-wide to serve on our Public Affairs Committee. Individuals with maternal child health, public health, social work, legislative, and/or advocacy experience needed to assist with advancing March of Dimes advocacy priorities in Alabama. Volunteers must have a willingness to learn about the legislative/regulatory process in the state. Activities include developing relationships with legislators and local elected officials, participating in legislative visits or meetings, and identifying issues and developing strategies to advance the chapter’s advocacy priorities.
