| MARCH OF DIMES NAMES NEW DIRECTORS, BOARD MEMBERS
Dean Alan Mann of Tuscaloosa has been named the new State Director of the Alabama Chapter of the March of Dimes. Mann has a combined eight years of experience in the non-profit and financial services industries, most recently serving as vice-president of Field Services for another local non-profit organization. The Alabama Chapter office is in Birmingham.
Cindy Mulvaney Pate of Alexandria, Va., recently was named Central Division Director for the Alabama Chapter of the March of Dimes. Pate worked as Government Relations Manager for Kilpatrick Stockton, LLC in Washington, DC, and previously for US Senator Jeff Sessions in Birmingham. From 1999-2000, Pate served as State President of the Alabama Cattlewoman’s Association. The Central Division office is located in Montgomery.
Tom Oliver II, senior partner of Carr, Allison, Pugh, Howard, Oliver and Sisson, was named chairman of the board of directors for the Alabama Chapter of the March of Dimes. The newly appointed 2007-2008 board members are Cindy Schreiber, Marketing Information Manager of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama; Tray Ivey, Chief Financial Officer with Mitchell Industries; Patrick Denney, Managing Partner with Cresa Partners; Jodran DeMoss, Administrative Director/Special Assistant to the CEO with UAB Health System; Myrna Pittman, Vice President of Customer Service with Alabama Power Company; Vicki Briggs, Chief Executive Officer with Trinity Hospital; Wayne Mathews, General Manager with Hardy Services; Saundra Ivey with AQAF; Dr. Patrick Ramsey, OB/GYN at UAB Hospital; Dr. Russell Kirby, Professor of Maternal and Child Health School of Public Health at UAB; Lisa Carter, Regional Perinatal Director with the Alabama Department of Pubic Health; Dr. Larry Powell, Professor of Communications Studies at UAB; Andrea Rominger, President of Rominger Media; Larry Wall, Financial Advisor with Ashford Advisors; Neesya Biddle, President of St. Vincent’s Hospital; and Rick Journey, Anchor/Report with Fox6 News. Gene Hallman, President and CEO of Bruno Event Team, and Sen. J.T. (Jabo) Waggoner, serve on the Board Advisory Committee.
The March of Dimes is a national voluntary health agency whose mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. Founded in 1938, the March of Dimes funds programs of research, community services, education, and advocacy to save babies and in 2003 launched a campaign to address the increasing rate of premature birth. Currently, the March of Dimes has more than $927,000 invested in Alabama community programs and research projects.
