When your baby is born too soon

When your baby is born prematurely (before 37 completed weeks of pregnancy), you and your partner can feel worried and overwhelmed, especially if he is in a newborn intensive care unit (NICU), even for a short time.

    What's in store

Many premature babies need extra care in the NICU and at home. You may be wondering why you went into labor early and whether there is anything you can do differently if you decide to get pregnant again. You may feel you have a lot to learn about premature birth, whether your baby was born just a couple of weeks early, or months too soon.

    Comfort and support

Many people feel changed by the experience of having a baby prematurely. Connecting with other moms who have been through similar experiences can help. Some parents find that telling their own story and helping others helps them understand and cope with their own experience., sh
