POSITION PURPOSE:
Provide leadership, direction, and coordination of corporate sponsorship and Family Team efforts for California. Family Teams are March for Babies teams that have a personal connection to our mission and are motivated to organize a team to raise money through March for Babies. This position is to further develop the volunteer structure and all other aspects of the California Chapter’s Family Team program. This position will also work to integrate Family Teams into all aspects of the organization’s operations.
This position will also oversee the successful growth of new revenue through the development of corporate sponsorships and cause related marketing activities related to March of Dimes March for Babies. This position will also manage and develop targeted statewide corporate teams and will be based in San Francisco. Assist in developing strategic events, monitor revenue development and support all special events in California.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Further develop, recruit and manage volunteer leadership at the state land division level to reach $2 million through Family Teams by 2010
· Manage major corporate accounts and ensure timely submittal of grant applications and sponsorship proposals.
· Manage benefit obligation and track implementation of corporate sponsorships within assigned markets.
· Work with volunteers to devise a plan for Family Team volunteers to recruit new Family Teams
· Ensure assigned divisions are provided with tools necessary to prospect, cultivate, solicit and acknowledge sponsorships in effective and efficient ways.
· Monitor the revenue of key special events throughout California. Manage and implement specific events when needed.
· Work with State Director of Development and fundraising staff to identify and approach corporations to secure major partnerships throughout California.
· Create and implement a plan to demonstrate to all March for Babies participants and the public the relevance of March of Dimes mission and a satisfying experience on March for Babies day
· Expand Family Team relationships to secure new corporate sponsors/supporters, secure volunteer leadership and major/annual gift prospects
· Develop sponsorship opportunities related to Family Teams
· Train and work with division staff to expand Family Team participation
· Manage select corporate March for Babies teams and other aspects of March for Babies Work with colleagues to create, pitch, and secure cause related marketing promotions to new and existing corporate partners.
· Provide corporate sponsorship training and tools to division staff as needed.
· Provide special event and corporate sponsorship training and tools to designated March of Dimes personnel.
· On an as needed basis advise and consult with different assigned divisions as it pertains to team leadership and event management.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
· 5 + years sales & marketing experience a plus
· Excellent management, organizational, interpersonal and communications skills
· Some travel required
· Ability to work with senior level March of Dimes staff
· Ability to account manage multiple corporate partners and grow relationships to increase sponsorship efforts
· Excellent verbal and written skills. Comfortable presenting to large groups of people
· Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced deadline driven environment
· Bilingual and/or experience with families touched by premature birth, birth defects or infant mortality a plus
