Denver City and County Building Lights Up for Prematurity Awareness
07-Apr-05
MEDIA ADVISORY
April 7, 2005

"WHAT ARE THOSE PINK AND BLUE LIGHTS FOR?"

PHOTO OPPORTUNITY:
Pink and blue colored lights will decorate the Denver City and County Building every evening throughout the month of April.

WHAT:
The lights are being used to raise awareness of prematurity and to encourage the public to join the fight against it. These are themes of this year's March of Dimes WalkAmerica event on Saturday, April 30 at Civic Center Park.

WHY:
Prematurity affects one in eight babies born in Colorado and is the leading cause of newborn death. Prematurity is also a major contributor to lifelong disabilities.

The March of Dimes is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the health of babies by preventing birth defects and infant mortality. To achieve its mission, the March of Dimes funds research, community services, education and advocacy.

WHEN:
The pink and blue lights are on display at the Denver City and County Building every evening from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. until April 30.

WHERE:
The Denver City and County Building
1437 Bannock Street
Denver, Colorado
