Mesa State Athletic Director Nick Adams Named New Western Colorado March of Dimes Board Chair

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—The March of Dimes announced today that it has named a new Western Slope division board chair, Nick Adams. Adams is the athletic director of Mesa State College and a longtime March of Dimes volunteer.

Adams joined Mesa State in January 2005. Before this, he was in the athletic departments at (respectively) the University of Illinois at Springfield and Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. He began volunteering for the March of Dimes in 1998 and has served in a number of capacities. These include event logistics, event recruitment and communications. His focus as the new Western Slope board chair will be on volunteer and board development, and strengthening community and corporate support.

Founded in 1938, the March of Dimes is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. To achieve its mission, the March of Dimes funds research, community services, education and advocacy. Currently in Colorado, the March of Dimes funds nearly $1.4 million in grants plus operates its own programs. More information is available at marchofdimes.com/colorado.
