| DENVER, Colo., Feb. 16, 2006/The March of Dimes today announced its volunteer leadership for 2006. Members of the Denver metro area board elected for 2006 are: Meghan Depsky (Aardex Corporation); Jane Gibbs (Colorado OB/GYN Society); Jamie Glonek (Colorado Apartment Association); Don Hall (Colorado Access); Sharon Langendoerfer, MD (Denver Health Medical Center); Linda Powers, RN (The Children’s Hospital); Kyle Samuel (Aon Risk Services); Jody Soper (First Data Corporation); Janice Thompson (Aardex Corporation); Darla Van Essen, RN (The Children’s Hospital); Debbie Welle-Powell (Exempla Healthcare Corporate Services); Michael Wilson (Wells Fargo); and, Michael Wukitsch (The Children’s Hospital). Chair of the local board of directors is Barbara Hughes, CNM, FACNM (Exempla Certified Nurse-Midwives at Saint Joseph Hospital).
Hughes is also a member of the state March of Dimes board. She is joined by: Nick Adams (AG Edwards); Susan Bouck (Citicorp/Diners Club, Inc.); Ned Calonge, MD (Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment); Pamela Davis; Mimi Roberson (HealthONE Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center); and, Dylan Taylor (Grubb & Ellis Company). Daryl Edmonds (CIGNA HealthCare of Colorado) is the chair of the March of Dimes Colorado board.
Founded in 1938, the March of Dimes is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. To achieve its mission, the March of Dimes funds research, education, community services and advocacy. Currently in Colorado, the March of Dimes funds $1.5 million in healthy-baby programs.
