Volunteers Named to Denver WalkAmerica Communications Committee
02-Mar-06
The March of Dimes announced today the appointment of volunteers to its Denver WalkAmerica communications committee. The group will spearhead local publicity and promotion of the March of Dimes fundraiser.

Those named to the committee are: Jessica Ciarvella and Angelina Fox of The Children’s Hospital; Sara King of Fowler Software and Serendipity Catering; and, Ariel Knobbe, Alicia Olson and Dennis Wakabayashi of Laws Communications. Appointed as committee chair is Chuck Reyman of The Children’s Hospital.

Celebrating its 36th anniversary this year, WalkAmerica is the nation’s oldest charitable walking event and the largest annual March of Dimes fundraiser. It supports March of Dimes efforts to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. Fighting prematurity (the leading cause of newborn death in Colorado and nationwide) is a key March of Dimes initiative. The March of Dimes works to achieve its mission through research, community services, education and advocacy.

The March of Dimes is a national nonprofit health organization founded in 1938. In Colorado, the March of Dimes currently funds nearly $1.7 million in healthy-baby programs. More information is available at http://www.marchofdimes.com/colorado.
