Just in Time for Mother's Day, Colorado Kids "Walk This Way" for the March of Dimes
09-May-07
Children across the state set to raise charitable funds for healthy mom/healthy baby programs at a special kids-only walking event

WHAT & WHO
Thousands of Colorado children from three to six years of age will participate in a special kids-only charitable walking event at Knowledge Learning centers in the Denver metro area, Northern Colorado and Colorado Springs. (The 80 centers go by the names of KinderCare and Knowledge Beginnings.) Called Wonder Walk, the event benefits the March of Dimes. All children at the centers are invited to participate and will receive a gift. Those who collect donations from family and friends can win extra prizes. In Colorado, around $40,000 is expected to be raised. Across the country, Wonder Walk events are anticipated to raise $1 million at Knowledge Learning centers nationwide.

A first-time initiative by Knowledge Learning, Wonder Walk is hoped to teach young people about the value and satisfaction of giving, and the importance and fun of physical activity. Befitting the wee walkers, the event features a very short course and lots of rest stops and snacks.
