(December 14, 2009) – Peter Duncan, President & CEO, George Comfort & Sons, Inc., was honored at the March of Dimes 2009 Real Estate Award Breakfast for his outstanding commercial real estate efforts and endeavors that have significantly enhanced the local community. The 14th annual breakfast, held at the Stamford Hilton, hosted 700 attendees from the real estate and nonprofit community raising approximately $465,540 to benefit the March of Dimes.
“We are very grateful for the continued support of the real estate community,” said Kathy Russell, Division Director/State Director of March for Babies, March of Dimes. “We are amazed by their generosity every year.”
The event highlighted Duncan’s personal and professional accomplishments. Long-time friend of the honoree and co-keynote, Peter Meizels, gave the audience a look into Duncan’s life from the beginning of his successful real estate career. Colleague, Dana Comfort, Executive Vice President of George Comfort & Sons, shared more on Duncan’s professional strides gaining millions of square footage of property for the firm since he assumed the position of President & CEO. Stamford Mayor, Michael Pavia, also shared remarks along with March of Dimes supporters and families who have been impacted by premature birth.
Peter Duncan joined GCS in 1982 and became president in 1995. He has over 25 years experience in commercial real estate acquisition, financing, repositioning, management and leasing, all at GCS. Since taking over leadership of GCS, he acquired and redeveloped many of the company-owned properties, totaling over $3 billion in value, and has expanded operations from New York City to Washington DC, Stamford, CT, Princeton, NJ, and most recently, Beverly Hills, CA. Professional commitments include membership in the Real Estate Board of New York and he is a licensed commercial broker in New York and New Jersey. Duncan received a Bachelor’s of Arts in American Studies from Trinity College and is a championship sailboat racer. He resides in Rye, NY with his wife, Chris and three children.
The annual Real Estate Award Breakfast is the premier event for the real estate community and the largest real estate fundraiser in the country.
