Glastonbury, Connecticut, June 11, 2012 —
Mia Byrnes, Director of Operations of Cornerstone Restaurant Group, has been appointed to the March of Dimes Connecticut Chapter’s Greater Connecticut Division board of directors.
“It is an honor to serve on the Board. I hope my participation, coupled with the rest of the boards’ dedication, can continue to educate the public on the importance of March of Dimes,” said Byrnes.
Byrnes recently served as chair of March for Babies in Mystic, the March of Dimes largest annual fundraiser. The Mystic event, one of nine walks around the state, raised over $130,000, surpassing its goal by $20,000.
“The March of Dimes is proud to have Mia among our dynamic volunteer leaders,” said Deb Poudrier-Fafard, Executive Director, March of Dimes Connecticut Chapter. “She is a dedicated and passionate advocate for our mission to give all babies a strong and healthy start, and we are so pleased to welcome her to our division board of directors.”
Among her professional accomplishments, Byrnes has served as General Manager for China Grill Restaurant at Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas. A New York native, in 2001 she found herself moving back east to Connecticut where she became the General Manager for Cornerstone Restaurant Group, which opened Michael Jordan’s Steak House. Michael Jordan’s 23.sportcafe at Mohegan Sun soon followed. In August 2007, she led the opening of a third Michael Jordan Restaurant at Mohegan Sun, SolToro Tequila Grill, and in March 2009 assisted with the development and led the opening of Zylo, a Tuscan steak house at the trendy W Hotel in Hoboken, NJ. Recently she helped launch Michael Jordan’s Steak House in Chicago. Byrnes was honored as Employer of the Year in December 2006 by the Mystic Chamber of Commerce.
