TITLE:         Analysis of a New Wingless/Hedgehog Signaling Gene

Purpose:   To study the role of a recently discovered fruitfly gene (7E4) in early embryonic development, for insight into its human counterpart.  It is possible that this gene helps regulate two cell-to-cell signaling pathways that play crucial roles in appropiate body patterning, and in humans, have been linked to craniofacial, hear, bone and central nervous system defects.  Goal:  Improve understanding of the role of these signaling pathways in causing birth defects.

Total for Delaware                               $150,000.00
