Michael Brown is January’s Volunteer of the Month
As the Walmart Area Market manager for North Central Florida, Michael joined the March of Dimes two years ago. Almost immediately, Michael jumped the ranks to one of our most dedicated volunteers.

After one meeting, Michael committed to a $10,000 North Central Florida WalkMania Sponsorship, donation of prize incentives, vendor recruitment for snack donations, and volunteer support from local stores for all 40 WalkManias!

He also committed his eleven area Walmarts to participate in March for Babies and made the promise that we would not be disappointed. With over $50,000 raised in new money in one campaign, we knew we were going to be lucky to have this volunteer on our side.

Michael has attended two National Volunteer Leadership Conferences and always leaves with a long list of goals for the next campaign. While these are never simple tasks, when they are left in Michael’s very capable and committed hands, every one of these goals gets accomplished. This includes expanding the Walmart campaign in a larger portion of Florida, as well as all Alabama stores. Michael is continually bringing wonderful new relationships to the March of Dimes.

On his suggestion, March of Dimes applied for a Walmart grant and was recently awarded $300,000 to Florida to establish 14 new Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) centers in Florida Hospitals along with providing funding to the NICU Family Support program at Shands Hospital in Gainesville.

Michael has recently joined the Florida Chapter Board of Directors. We look forward to his continued leadership and initiative in this position. Thank you Michael, for your dedicated work on behalf of the babies!
