01-Jan-10
The sun is shining a little less bright in the “Sunshine State” as March of Dimes Florida Chapter State Director Debbie Dawson retires.  In her 22 years of service she was a beloved boss and a friend to many.

She began her March of Dimes career in 1987 as Director of Development with the Metro Atlanta Chapter.  She has also served as the Director of Field Services and Director of Development for the North Texas Chapter, Community Director in South Carolina, and as Area Director for the Southern Region for 8 years.

Debbie was the driving force that lead the Florida Chapter through its consolidation from seven chapters to one.  Florida has thrived under her leadership and she was honored with the President’s Staff Excellence Award in 2004. During her tenure in partnership with the volunteers, Florida won team award in 2001, 2004, 2005, and 2006. The chapter also received numerous Chapter of the Year Awards in Communications, Revenue, Program, Public Affairs, as well as the prestigious Mission Triangle Award.  In addition to her hands on help in Florida, Debbie also served on the President’s Advisory Council from 2004-2008 helping to shape the future of the organization.

                                                                                                   Debbie will be missed.
