Amarilis Osorio
Amarilis Osorio has worked hard to give back and get involved not only with the local Miami community, but with communities abroad as well. Osorio believes that being philanthropic is not only about “signing a check.”  If she can make those “checks” to multiply it is even better.

After marrying her husband, Claudio Osorio, in 1989 she moved to Germany and later to Switzerland where she continued to operate her consultant company in her hometown of Caracas, Venezuela, and joined her husband’s company as the MIS Director of a Fortune 500 company, with offices in more than 30 countries

While living in Europe, she began her philanthropic work as the Founder and Chairman of CHS Cares, an international, private, not-for-profit organization, based in Geneva.  In the last 12 years, CHS Cares has opened and supported day care centers for more than 500 children in Venezuela, Dominican Republic, and Russia.  In 1997 she partnered with Red Cross International to fund and support 8 orphanages in Siberia, Russia.

At that time she also founded “The Phoenix Initiative Program,” which has donated more than 10,000 renovated computers to schools and hospitals in more than 15 countries in Latin America and Eastern Europe.

In 1997 she moved permanently to Miami continuing her roll as the Chairman of CHS Cares and the Phoenix Initiative Project.  She and her husband also founded the Osorio-Moran Foundation .

Amarilis co-founded i2 Cares, a program sponsored by i2 Foundation, which supports day care centers and orphanages for children in Uganda, India and Latin America in 2000. She served in the i2 Foundation’s Executive Committee Board of Directors and the “Grants Committee.”

Osorio also served for three years as a Board Member of the Cushman School, an 80 year-old private school located in Miami. Over that period, she chaired and co-chaired their main fundraising events and served on their capital campaign and construction committees.

People Magazine en Espanol has recognized her in the June 2007 issue for her leadership and work in not-for-profit projects.

For Osorio, being involved in the community is like running a business, working everyday from her home office for the benefit of many charity organizations, local, and international.
