The Florida Chapter won several major awards at the March of Dimes National Staff Conference recently held in Phoenix.
The national awards were presented by March of Dimes President Dr. Jennifer Howse and Sportscaster and March of Dimes Board Trustee Greg Gumbel. “To win the Chapter of the Year Award for Communications, a chapter must show outstanding achievement in increasing awareness of mission and fund-raising activities through its communications efforts," Gumbel said.”
And announcing Florida’s win, Dr. Howse added “For the third straight year, Florida demonstrated chapter-wide effectiveness in volunteer development, PSA placement, news coverage, and media sponsorships.”
“For the Chapter of the Year Award in Revenue Development,” Gumbel explained “the qualifying criteria are aligned in a point system with both the Team Award for Fund Raising and Standards for Success as measures. The highest number of total points determines the winners.” Dr. Howse reported “Florida had an outstanding year and raised over 11 million dollars in March of Dimes net, exceeding their budget by $890,000, and have a profitability ratio of 121.7.”
“To win the Chapter of the Year Award for Mission Triangle, a chapter must show outstanding achievement in Fund Raising, Program, Public Affairs and Communications. The award is based on nominations received in all categories, said Gumbel. Added Dr. Howse “Florida achieved unprecedented levels of mission, communications, public affairs, and fundraising success.”

“In 2005, the Florida chapter achieved unprecedented levels of mission, communications, legislative and revenue success,” Howell reported. “In addition to financial achievements, Florida continues to have a profound impact on the state’s mothers and babies through their program efforts, Vitagrant program, and advocacy efforts. Truly and outstanding job, Florida. Congratulations to you all for your success!”
The Florida Chapter would like to recognize and thank our fabulous volunteers for their outstanding contributions to these efforts. |
