
March of Dimes Florida Chapter Volunteers Rally at the Volunteer Leadership Conference in Washington DC

Hundreds of March of Dimes volunteer leaders and staff from across the nation recently gathered at the annual Volunteer Leadership Conference in Washington DC to plan for the future for the March of Dimes while celebrating the past year’s success.
While at the conference, they marched on Capitol Hill with Anna Eleanor Roosevelt, granddaughter of our founder and President of the United States Franklin Delano Roosevelt. Ms. Roosevelt led the way and spoke to legislatures about the importance of children’s health, insurance, and to bring awareness of the alarming increase in premature birth. Additionally, several Florida Chapter volunteers and corporations where honored at the conference including Frederick V. Miller, MD, MHA, MBA as Volunteer of the Year for the Florida Chapter Award and Publix Super Markets as the #4 WalkAmerica Team. |

Dr. Miller was awarded with the Volunteer of the Year Award from the Florida Chapter - This award recognizes individuals whose excellence, creativity, and leadership have made a major contribution toward saving babies in their region of the country.
Publix Super Markets is the #4 WalkAmerica Team - Although only in five southern states, Publix leads the nation in raising campaign dollars to save babies. Publix was recognized as the number 4 team nationwide, raising over $3.1 million through their in store sneaker promotion and with associates participating in their local WalkAmerica communities. Publix has raised over $26 million for the March of Dimes since becoming a national corporate partner in 1995. Publix remains the number 1 team in Florida raising over $1.8 million in 2007.
Florida Chapter Honored as the Mission Triangle Chapter of the Year - The Florida Chapter was honored with the prestigious Mission Triangle Award for outstanding accomplishments in program and public affairs, communications, and revenue development.
