March of Dimes Florida Chapter recognized November as Prematurity Awareness Month® with dozens of activities throughout the state calling attention to the more than half a million premature births that occur in this country every year - and other serious threats to newborn health.
Prematurity is the number one killer of newborns. In fact, each year, 29,287 babies in Florida suffer the consequences of being born too soon.
