Ocala, Florida, March 20, 2012
As the underdog Project 1 Atlanta (P1A) came to the Daytona 200 at the Daytona International Speedway with rider Joey Pascarella, their mission was to win the race and to raise awareness and support for the March of Dimes.
Former racer and fan of motorcycle roadracing, Jim Bronson, sponsored the P1A team and is also deeply committed to the March of Dimes. He hopes pairing the racing community and his favorite charity together will help raise awareness and support for the March of Dimes biggest fundraiser, March for Babies. “This was such a fantastic event with hundreds of fans showing their support for the March of Dimes. They have touched so many lives, and have families have stronger, healthier babies, the least we can do is help them share their mission,” commented Bronson.
Pascarella shared that his own grandfather was born with a birth defect, and he thanks the March of Dimes for his ability to walk. “It is an honor to ride for such a great team like P1A and for such a wonderful cause. I was so happy to be here, and I’m glad I was able to bring home a win.”

Pascarella dedicates his win to his grandfather and all babies including March of Dimes Ambassador 18-month old Asher Inman. Asher was born 9 weeks early at 3 lbs and spent six weeks in the neonatal intensive care unit at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, FL. Soon after his birth his lung collapsed. He was put on a ventilator and had 3 surfactant therapy treatments so he could breathe on his own. Today, he is a happy baby boy tipping the scales at 20lbs.
Now the team is getting prepared for Triumph Big Kahuna Atlanta where they plan to continue their support for the March of Dimes and welcome other fans, businesses and organizations to get involved. “One in eight babies is born to premature in the United States, and no one is working harder than the March of Dimes to find out why. We have been so blessed, and this is our opportunity to bring awareness to the good work that the March of Dimes is doing to help give every baby a healthy start in life. It’s just the right thing to do,” said P1A’s team owner, Perry Melneciuc. “We are very excited about the win in Daytona and look forward to a great race in Atlanta.”
