Alan Thomas is the Regional Director for Publix Super Markets, Inc. and is responsible for the Northern Region stores. Thomas began his Publix career in 1974 at the age of 17 as a front service clerk. A dedicated employee and exemplary leader, he quickly gained success in his career. He has held recognizable committee positions with the March of Dimes and many other organizations leading him to be named the 1997 Inroads Supervisor of the Year, the 1998 George W. Jenkins Award Winner and the Presidents Award Winner in 2001.

As an active volunteer with the March of Dimes, he has been an executive champion for the Publix campaign for several years. While serving as a member of the Revenue Committee in 2011, Thomas led his team to a 71% increase in fundraising. Most recently, Thomas served as the 2012 First Coast March for Babies Chair, leading the event to raise $680,000 and the Publix team to a 23% increase. In addition to his work on the Revenue Committee, Thomas is the Vice Chair for the Northeast Florida Division Board of Directors. He is a committed volunteer with a passion for our mission.
Originally from Savannah, Georgia, Thomas currently resides in Neptune Beach, Florida. As a father and as a grandfather, he has a personal interest in making sure that other families continue to receive educational information and benefit from the research performed by March of Dimes grantees. As Regional Director, he is dedicated to making sure his employees and their families know the joy of a healthy baby.
“I’m proud Publix can be a part of the March for Babies,” Thomas said. “We’re walking to give more babies a brighter, healthier future.”
