Nope, that was the scene as more than 2,500 motorcycles took to the track at AMS on Sunday, October 7 during the 16th Annual March of Dimes Bikers for Babies. And finishing in 1st place is…Gordon? Elliott? Earnhardt? With more than $150,000 raised, the winners are Georgia’s babies!
Among those participating was NASCAR legend Bill Elliott. “Awesome Bill from Dawsonville” signed autographs and treated top fundraisers to a ride around the track in his racecar! Bikers for Babies Chair John Woodruff offered participants another once-in-a-lifetime opportunity as he provided rides in his personal helicopter around AMS.
After riders took their motorcycles for a spin around the track’s hallowed asphalt, they enjoyed a delicious lunch provided by Buffalo’s Southwest Café.
“We were excited to change the location and try something new this year,” Woodruff said. “The Atlanta Motor Speedway was a great venue and provided our participants with a truly unique opportunity.”
One hundred percent of rider donations will benefit the March of Dimes Prematurity campaign in Georgia. Since the March of Dimes Bikers for Babies Weekend’s inception 16 years ago, the event has raised more than $5 million for Georgia’s babies, helping to fund the expanded Georgia Newborn Screening Program benefiting more than 133,000 Georgia babies each year. If you missed this year’s event, be sure to come out next year to make the 17th Annual March of Dimes Bikers for Babies the most successful yet!
