Thank you for being a Blogger for Babies |
| Numerous hi-tech moms and dads are fired up their computers on April 3rd to blog about babies they love in hopes that one day all babies will be born healthy. It seems that everyone these days is blogging about their work, hobbies and families and the March of Dimes is ready to jump in on the fun. We are asked all of Georgia to blog about a baby they love to raise awareness for the nations oldest walk-March for Babies. The walk takes place on the last Saturday in April where everyone joins together at their March for Babies sites with their babies to have a blast. Check out our event page to register as a team or individual and raise money for all babies. Send us your blog posts so we can see your wonderful stories then ask your family and friends to join your team. See you at the March! Below is one of blogger posts.
Baby Bunching Blog 04/03/2009 Shortly after I became pregnant with my third child, I was talking with a group of girlfriends about having more babies. One friend commented that she had two healthy boys and she and her husband were so grateful and really didn't want to press their luck by going for a third. At the time, I thought that letting the fear of something going wrong keep you from the joy of what usually goes right was just silly. That's what I thought - up until a year ago. With my first two babies, I waddled into the delivery room without a care in the world, confident that the excellent health care system here in the US and the doctors I trusted would help me deliver a happy, healthy baby. Even when I experienced complications delivering my second baby and the NICU team was called in to whisk him away, I never really worried much, figuring that he was delivered full-term and whatever minor complications he was experiencing could be magically cured by the wonders of modern medicine. I was blissfully ignorant - up until a year ago. Last April, when I was five months pregnant with my third child, one of my closest friends delivered her third baby. He was not born too early, but unbeknown to his parents and doctors, there were complications in utero and he was born very sick. There was no way for even the wonders of modern medicine to cure him. He was not expected to live long, but he was a strong little boy and he was with us for almost a month. During his too-short life, he touched so many people. For me personally, he changed my life forever in more ways than I can say. Never again will I take the miracle of pregnancy and the blessing of a healthy baby for granted. Having a baby may be the most natural thing in the world, but nature is not always kind or fair. That's why I'm grateful to have the March of Dimes constantly working to learn more about how to better protect all of our babies. On April 25, the MOD will be holding the Atlanta March for Babies to raise money for a world with healthier babies. My friend's son's first birthday would have been this upcoming this week. I'm joining the MOD walk efforts in memory of Gavin Michael and in support of another friend who is walking. Whether you're grateful because the work of the March of Dimes has helped your baby get better or because you've never had a sick baby partially in thanks to their work, please consider supporting them too.
