Brendan and Marcee McCarthy were selected to be 2009's Downtown Atlanta's March for Babies Ambassador Family. They have two beautiful children, Brendan Jr. and Amelia who were both born preature. Brendan Junior was a normal pregnancy until at 23 weeks, Marcee started feeling sick and went to the doctor. Completely unexpected, Marcee was told that she was to deliver Brendan that night via emergeny c-section. Brendan Junior was born prematurily and sent into the NICU for months. He was so tiny that his father's wedding band could fit aound is entire arm. Finally, we was released and sent home. Today, Brendan faces numerous challenges but continues to be a sweet, happy little boy.
Soon after, Marcee and Brendan were expecting their second bundle of joy -Amelia. For the first 22 weeks, everything was considered normal and looking great and then one week earlier than Brendan, things started to turn. Marcee was placed on bed rest for almost 5 weeks which got them to 28 weeks. Amelia was born prematurly but eventually reached the magical goal faced by all preemies and was discharged from all follow ups within her first year. Currently, Amelia is on track with her growth and is in the 99 percentile on height growth measures. She is expeced to have a totally normal development.
Make sure to say "hi" to th McCarthy's and their March for Babies team this April!
