Northside Hospital Presents Guide for Moms and Moms to Be - On Newstands Now!
(ATLANTA, GA) MAY 5, 2009 – A mom hears her baby’s heartbeat for the very first time. The sonogram reveals the tiniest fingers and toes...a new world unfolds. Whether having a boy or girl, every mom – and dad just wants a healthy baby. That’s why the March of Dimes and Atlanta magazine celebrate this Mother’s Day with a special eight-page issue of Mommy & Me, a monthly feature in Atlanta magazine created just for moms and moms-to-be.
For decades, the March of Dimes has championed the cause of healthy babies, funding Nobel® Prize-winning research; promoting folic acid awareness; advocating for lifesaving newborn screenings and now seeking solutions to why babies are born too soon, too small.
“The March of Dimes is moms’ biggest fan and babies’ staunchest advocate,” says Gannon Gingrey Manning, chairman of the Board, March of Dimes Georgia Chapter. “We are pleased to partner with Atlanta magazine and presenting sponsor, Northside Hospital to offer Mommy & Me as a valuable resource for Atlanta women. Whether online, in print or on podcasts, we hope moms will turn to us for reliable information on all their preconception, pregnancy and baby health questions and needs.”
In May’s Atlanta magazine, the Mommy& Me guide draws upon the insights and advice some of Atlanta’s top moms who offer candid perspectives in navigating the high ranking role of Mom-in-Chief. In a single bound, these dynamic women are leaping through the joys and challenges of motherhood and sharing their strategies along the way. The Mommy & Me panelists included:
# Vicki Stern Brown, CEO, Promom Couture. T-shirts that celebrate motherhood with style.
# Kristin Cowart, owner, KCPR – an Atlanta based lifestyle public relations firm
# Danielle Knox, weekend anchor for CBS Atlanta Weekend News and co-host of The Balancing Act – a Lifetime Television Show
# Denene Millner, 15 time author, mom blogger of MyBrownBaby.blogspot.com dedicated to lifting the voices of African-American moms looking for advice and support. She also pens a column for Parenting magazine.

Future monthly columns will feature: Developmental Milestones for Baby, Oral Health and Pregnancy, Financial Planning for Baby, Protecting Baby During Flu Season.
