Store raises over $14,000 for the March of Dimes
Atlanta, Georgia, July 03, 2012
If you visited a Publix Super Market during the month of April, a cashier most certainly asked you to donate to the March of Dimes. Their persistence and your dollars have paid off, as Publix Store 33 in Marietta was named the #2 Publix store in the country for their March for Babies fundraising campaign.
Since 1995, Publix and the March of Dimes have been teaming up for healthier babies during an annual campaign. Events, activities and the sales of cut-outs add up to lots of fun for customers and associates, and a substantial donation to March of Dimes. The campaign wraps up with March for Babies, the March of Dimes’ largest fundraiser.
For 2012, Publix Super Markets have raised over $4.26 million for the March of Dimes with Georgia’s Publix stores raising $774,000. District Manager Matt Crawley’s stores were tops in the state and his Store 33, managed by Albert DiMercurio, holds the distinction of the #2 Publix store in the country, raising over $14,000.
“Every day, thousands of babies are born too soon, too small and often very sick, said Crawley. We all fundraise and walk for the March for Babies event in the hopes that not only will our employees have healthy babies but that YOU, our customer, never has to suffer through the agony of a premature birth. We are thankful to be a part of this fight to help give all babies a healthier future and we look forward to continuing this participation with the March of Dimes.”
The March of Dimes is the leading nonprofit organization for pregnancy and baby health. With chapters nationwide and its premier event, March for Babies, the March of Dimes works to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.
