Thank you for your interest in earning continuing education credits online.

Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits are offered for completion of each of our interactive case studies.

Genetic Testing and Screening: Incorporating Genetic Testing and Screening into your practice can help minimize disease-associated morbidity and mortality. Visit this module for a step-by-step guide to genetic testing and useful tools for your practice.
Family Health and Social History: Obtaining an accurate family history can be the most cost effective form of genetic screening that you do. Visit this module for a time-saving method to family history taking and sample family history questionnaires.
Referral to Genetic Services: Genetic professionals can be your partner in ensuring that your patients benefit from advances in genetics. Visit this module for referral information and tools to locate a genetic service provider in your area.

You may complete this Category 1 CME learning activity online. It takes about 60 minutes for each case study.

For best results, users should have:

Each educational module outlines a practical process that health care professionals can use to begin integrating genetics into their patient care. Each case study offers the user an opportunity to put that process into action in a simulated clinical setting.

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint sponsorship of Swedish Medical Center and The March of Dimes. Swedish Medical Center is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Swedish Medical Center designates designates this internet enduring material for a maximum of 3.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Non-physician professionals should check with their individual credentialing body to confirm that participation in this CME activity will be approved for credit. All participants will receive a certificate of completion from Swedish Medical Center.

By providing your personal information for continuing education credit, you are granting March of Dimes Foundation permission to forward it to the provider, Swedish Medical Center and any other accrediting organizations that require it. Your personal information will be used to generate your certificate of completion and for aggregate reporting. Information forwarded to the professional education provider or other accrediting authority will be subject to their individual privacy policies. Participant names will not be released outside the Swedish system without a written request from the user.

This learning activity is the property of the March of Dimes Foundation and permission has been granted to Swedish Medical Center to use the modules on the Web site for the purpose of assessing the curriculum materials and for providing continuing educational credits to health professionals.


To earn full credit users must complete a pre and post-test with the case study and must submit an online evaluation form. Upon completion of these tasks users will be required to fill out a CME registration form prior to printing out their certificate of completion.

At the start of each Case Study, users will select a patient to track. Each patient follows a parallel path and the activities and interactions are the same for each patient type within each case. The user will receive credit for completing one patient track through each of the case studies. The user may explore another patient’s presentation but no additional credit is available for doing this.

What to do with the certificate? Certificates should be kept in the users personal records and provided to the appropriate agency for proof of participation and completion.
