Prominent Business Leader Named 2003 March of Dimes WalkAmerica Chair
29-Oct-02
Alton Kuioka, Vice Chairman of Bank of Hawaii, to Serve as the 2003 WalkAmerica Chair

HONOLULU, HI - March of Dimes is proud to announce that Alton Kuioka, Vice Chairman of Bank of Hawaii, will serve as the 2003 WalkAmerica Chair bringing years of community volunteer leadership experience to the chapter’s WalkAmerica Committee. “We are pleased to have Alton  Kuioka, as the 2003 WalkAmerica chairperson,” said Carmella Hernandez, State Director for the March of Dimes.   "With his leadership and guidance, along with the community’s support, we can make 2003 WalkAmerica one of the best ever and continue our track record of success in saving babies’ lives.”

As chair, Alton will recruit business and community leaders to serve on the 2003 WalkAmerica Committee, directing their efforts to recruit companies and organizations throughout the State to form WalkAmerica teams with employees and their families and helping to secure sponsorship dollars.

WalkAmerica 2003 will take place on Saturday, April 26, 2003 at Kapiolani Park Bandstand.  More than 5,000 people are expected to walk and raise money to help save babies.  The dollars raised, through WalkAmerica, help fuel the research & educational programs, community services and advocacy efforts that give our babies the best possible chance for a healthy start in life. Walk also funds important gene therapy research, worksite health programs, and public Health education campaigns. With a success record that spans 33 years, WalkAmerica is the biggest walking event in the country. Every dollar raised has an essential impact on Hawaii’s Keiki.

Donating is easy online, by phone or mail / fax.
