Chain Reactions and Collegiate Councils plan and conduct fund-raising events that support March of Dimes life-saving research and community programs, including:
- WalkAmerica in communities around the country, usually during the last weekend in April.
- Individual fund-raisers, like dime drives, volleyball tournaments, car washes, dances and carnivals.
- March of Dimes chapter special events where the youth volunteer their time.
Conducting special events and fund-raisers fosters the development of organizational skills among Chain Reaction and Collegiate Council members. March of Dimes mission and educational messages can be easily incorporated into fund-raising events, creating both publicity and community awareness.
Some fund-raising ideas include:
- Car washes
- Give a Dime campaign
- Selling March of Dimes Bean Bags for Babies
- Battle of the Bands
- Mile of Dimes
- Skate-A-Thon, Bowl-A-Thon, or similar event
- Holiday theme event
- Twister Tournament
