| Chicago-The March of Dimes is committed to saving babies. This commitment is carried out by the work of many healthcare professionals who share this powerful goal. The March of Dimes and its Perinatal Nursing Advisory Council are honored to publicly recognize nurses who exemplify dedication to infants and families, thereby promoting the mission of the March of Dimes, at its 30th Annual Perinatal Conference to be held at the Hyatt Regency in Oak Brook on March 3-4, 2005.
The nominated nurses practice extraordinary nursing skills and innovative thinking. They also promote core nursing values related to their field. The nurses were nominated by their colleagues and peers who act as daily witnesses to the commitment of the honorees. The nominees were then reviewed by a special sub-committee of the Perinatal Nursing Advisory Council. Although many nominations were received, only five nurses were chosen.
The 2005 Outstanding Nurse Recognition Award honorees included Peggy Boron, Clinical RN, Maternal Child Department, St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville; Susana Gonzalez, BSN, Director of Maternal and Child Services, MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn; Jean Sosin, RN, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield; Sue Kean, RN, Clinic Nurse, McLean County Health Department in Bloomington; and Jean Smith, RNC, BSN, Clinical Operations Assistant, Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.
