| Chicago – Veronica Arboleda of Chicago Ridge has joined the Illinois Chapter of the March of Dimes in the position for Program Services Coordinator. The appointment, effective immediately, was announced by Lisa Dye, Director of Programs and Public Affairs for the chapter.
Veronica will organize the March of Dimes' Celebrando La Mujer Latina conference, coordinate participation in health fairs, and be involved on the Illinois Council for Folic Acid. Currently, Veronica is working on the art contest for Celebrando La Mujer Latina, which takes place on November 5th. She has been a volunteer for the March of Dimes for the last ten years. She began volunteering in 1995 when her nephew was born with a birth defect. Later, her sister’s family was chosen be an Ambassador Family for WalkAmerica. Veronica also has her own walk team, The J.N.G. Team, for WalkAmerica, and was the volunteer chairperson for Celebrando La Mujer Latina for the past 2 years. Prior to joining March of Dimes, Veronica worked at Harris Bank and Lakeside Bank.
The March of Dimes is a national voluntary health agency whose mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects and infant mortality. Founded in 1938, the March of Dimes funds programs of research, community services, education, and advocacy to save babies and in 2003 launched a five-year campaign to address the increasing rate of premature birth.
