Illiana Speedway Hosts March of Dimes Night Event.
Racing for Babies is Born in Northwest Indiana

In 2006,  Nathan Splant became Ambassador for the March of Dimes.  He was born too soon and too small and had to struggle to survive.  But the March of Dimes was there to help him win his fight to survive and the family never forgot.  Nathan's Mother and Father, Kim and Phillip Splant came up with the idea of a "March of Dimes Night" at their local race track, Illiana Motor Speedway - located in Schererville, Indiana.  The 2007 event was held April 21st.

With the support and willingness of track owner, Mike Mikuly - it has became an annual event and a huge success each year.  The Splants own and drive a Limited Late Model race car and have decals made for the car with the March of Dimes logo for the racing season that begins on April 21 thru September to bring awareness to the problem of prematurity.  See pictures of the 2007 car here.

Says Kim Splant, "We cannot thank the March of Dimes enough for their loyalty and commitment.  Without your support, Nathan may not be here today.  Prematurity has become a personal mission and passion for our family."

Thanks to the support of our local businesses, racing volunteers and family and friends it has become an event the March of Dimes is expanding to other tracks in the midwest.
