March of Dimes Volunteers Go to Statehouse to give voice for Babies and Families in 2010

As the State Budget is adjusted to accomodate the current economic times March of Dimes volunteers are going to the Indiana Statehouse on January 28th to meet with legislators about key advocacy issues critical to our mission:
  • Access to health are for women of childbearing age, pregnant women, infants and children.
  • Development and use of perinatal and pediatric quality measures.
  • Access Initiatives to improve the health of infants and children living with birth defects and health problems associated with preterm births.
  • Smoking, alcohol and substance abuse prevention and cessation with emphasis on women of childbearing age and children.

Indiana Chapter Day at the Capitol:
  • 10am: Advocacy Training for Indiana Volunteers at the Indiana State Teachers Assocation building on Capitol Ave.
  • 12pm: Lunch with select legislators at the ISTA building.
  • 1pm: March to the Statehouse and Rally in the Rotunda
  • 1:30pm - 3:30pm: meet with legislators.
