Along with crowning the 2010 Mom of the Year from among 10 finalists submitted for nomination we will highlight the work of our Honoree Mom, Dijuana Lewis who along with being a successful Mom is Executive Vice President, President and CEO, Comprehensive Health Solutions Business Unit, WellPoint, Inc.
Ten finalists for Mom of the Year have been selected and the Mom of the Year 2010 will be selected by a panel of community leaders on the following criteria:
- Perseverance/Overcoming obstacles
- Leadership/Serving as an example for others to follow
- Management/Juggling multiple priorties successfully

Shawna Ault -- Vincennes, IN
After three surgeries to help Shawna’s yet unborn baby, and blood transfusions done through her baby’s liver, their tiny girl’s heart stopped beating at 24 weeks gestation. She has since become an active leader in finding a cure for what took her baby’s life and is making a difference in the lives of ALL babies. |

Vicky Andritsch -- McCordsville, IN
Vicky is the mother of 5 children; the eldest in high school, the youngest is in pre-K. She and her husband, Todd, have faced many challenges over the last few years, including a child with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia and another who required neurosurgery as an infant. |

Marty Bell -- Poland, IN
Having a newborn with the father away on active military duty can be tough. Add the chalenge of having a second child born 3 months early, a toddler to care for and a father still away serving his country and Marty is a Mom whose story is truly inspirational. |

Kristin Coleman -- Granger, IN
Kristin gave birth to quadruplet baby boys on March 20, 2009. Since that time she has spent 119 days in the NICU with her babies; 60 more days in the hospital with one son after his surgery, and is now juggling a family of four boys while back at work full-time. |

Karen Foli -- Lafayette, IN
Karen has three children, one adopted, and has become an expert in a field not well explored or understood. Devastating in its intensity and startling in its unexpectedness, post-adoptive depression took hold of her. She fought through it and today helps other moms around the world fight the problem. |

Maria I. Garcia -- Hammond, IN
Maria and her daughter didn’t have much when they found themselves on their own in 2001. Through hard work, dedication and love, today Maria holds a Master’s Degree in accounting, has a successful career and a daughter whose fond memories include the day they realized the dream of owning their own home. |

Mallory Greene -- Speedway, IN
Mallory’s son’s diagnosis is that he will never walk, he will never talk, and he will never be able to live on his own. Due to her persistence—and the bravery of her little boy– he now knows sign language, can stand on his own and is one happy little guy. |

Kathryn Pierce -- Wakarusa, IN
Born with “Goldenhar Syndrome” Kathryn went on to beat the odds and have two boys, one of which requires constant care with daily living. Over the last several years she has plugged away at juggling school, family life, and parenting a special needs child with high demands. In May, she earned her Masters Degree |

Brook Pritchett -- Indianapolis, IN
Most mothers deserve to be Mom of the Year because of all they do for their children. Brook was nominated to be Mom of the Year because of what she does in honor of her children, both lost to Spinal Muscular Atrophy before age one. She travels many miles and devotes much of her time to finding a cure as well as raising awareness. |

Katie VanTornhout -- South Bend, IN
Katie struggled to get pregnant for 5 years, suffering 4 miscarriages before becoming pregnant with her “Miracle Baby”, delivered six weeks early on Christmas Eve 2009. Her daughter came home and thrived but towards the end of January, the baby got a cough and on January 30, Katie and her husband lost their “miracle baby” to pertussis. Today Katie is a national spokesperson for pertussis awareness. |
