How you can join the effort to give every baby a healthy start!
The Indiana Chapter of the March of Dimes has many volunteer opportunities from fundraising, to office work, to event planning and committee and board membership. Since 1938 the March of Dimes has been a voluntary health organization which receives no government or United Way funding. It is only through volunteers and public generosity that we have been successful in our battle to save babies' lives. Join us as a volunteer leader and help further the fight against birth defects, infant mortality and prematurity. Call 1-800-244-9255 or click here. |

| Ambassador children and their families bring a face to the mission of the March of Dimes for co-workers, friends and sponsors. An Ambassador family tells the story of how their lives have been touched by the March of Dimes. Then people can hear and see the connection between their efforts, the well being of the child standing in front of them and the health of thousands of other children across the country.
At birth, the family benefited from March of Dimes supported research if the child experienced one of the following conditions: * Suffered from respiratory distress syndrome and received surfactant therapy. * Suffered from persistent pulmonary hypertension and received nitric oxide therapy. * Was born prematurely or at a low birth weight (a birthweight of less than 5 pounds, 8 ounces). * Was in a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). * Was diagnosed with phenylketonuria (PKU) and treated accordingly. AND * The child was born healthy as a result of the mother taking folic acid, and the parents had a previous child with a neural tube defect, such as spina bifida. AND * The child was born healthy and the parents can explain why their healthy pregnancy was served by the March of Dimes.
