March of Dimes Indiana Chapter Volunteers Call to Action on PREEMIE Act
08-Nov-05

The March of Dimes has launched a national grassroots campaign calling on members of Congress to approve the "Prematurity Research Expansion and Education for Mothers Who Deliver Infants Early Act" (S 707/H.R. 2861).

This bill, also known as the “PREEMIE Act,” would increase federal support for research into the causes and strategies for prevention of  prematurity.  In addition, the bill would provide federal support for public and health professional education as well as health services related to prematurity.

The PREEMIE Act was introduced by Senators Lamar Alexander (R-TN) and Christopher Dodd (D- CT) in the Senate and Representatives Fred Upton (R-MI) and Anna Eshoo (D-CA) in the House.

Background information for those wishing to participate in this important campaign can be found on the March of Dimes web site.

Please click here: http://www.marchofdimes.com/aboutus/855_17469.asp to visit the web page that contains a sample letter and instructions on contacting Members of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives.

Prematurity is a serious and growing problem.  By participating in this campaign you will help enact this important piece of legislation.

Donating is easy online, by phone or mail / fax.
