These programs are receiving March of Dimes Indiana Chapter funding in 2008:

Funding from the March of Dimes will allow Y-MED to expand their prenatal care to teens to 80-90 participants.
  • Children First Center – DeKalb County Parent Group for Handicapped Children, Inc.--
Funding from the March of Dimes will allow the Children First Center to provide home based and group prenatal mentoring for at-risk pregnant Hispanic women.  The project has two main components – education and case management.  Both will focus on
reducing the disparities in birth outcomes and help at-risk pregnant Hispanic women deliver healthy, full-term infants.
  • Dukes Healthcare Foundation of Miami County, Inc./Miami County Tobacco Awareness Group – Smoke Free Baby Project is receiving a chapter grant to provide information on the dangers of tobacco use during and after pregnancy to pregnant women who reside in Miami County.
  • HealthNet, Inc. – Centering Care for You and Your Baby
This project will provide interconception education and support using the Centering Pregnancy model. The objective is to increase spacing between births and decrease the risk of premature birth by providing tools for healthy lifestyle choices.
  • HealthVisions Midwest, Inc. – Maternal Child Health Network of Lake County
This project will provide pregnant women with risk reduction education and strategies, including how to recognize signs and symptoms of premature labor.
  • Healthy Communities Initiative of Bartholomew County – Columbus Prenatal Care Education and Support
This project will increase the activities and materials available to promote awareness of the importance of participating in early prenatal care programs, folic acid education, and practicing healthy lifestyle behaviors for pregnant Hispanic women.
  • Memorial Hospital of South Bend – Bebes Dulces Sin Azucar
A second year of March of Dimes funding will allow the hospital to provide a culturally and linguistically appropriate education and case management program for minority and limited-English-proficient gestational diabetics to reduce the rate of maternal and infant complications due to diabetes.
  • NorthShore Health Centers – Prenatal Care Coordination
A second year of March of Dimes funding will allow the health center to provide African American and Hispanic pregnant women with consistent education and support through early entry into prenatal care.  Expected outcomes include a reduction in the incidence of low birth weight babies, infant mortality, infant respiratory complications and SIDS.
  • Shelby Community Health Center – Pregnancy PREP
To provide preconception and prenatal education to Shelby County Hispanic women in an effective, holistic and culturally competent way.
  • Wishard Health Services Primary Care Center (OB/GYN Clinic) – Centering Pregnancy
This program offers CenteringPregnancy group prenatal care to the patients of the Wishard Primary Care Center OB/GYN Clinic, in order to provide quality prenatal care in a supportive group setting so that patients and their babies can benefit with improved perinatal outcomes.
