| March of Dimes Receives Share of Cable Company’s Generosity.
Annual Brighthouse Networks “Bright Community Campaign” donates $5,000 in customer fees to help the March of Dimes fight premature birth.
Indianapolis, IN, August 15, 2005—The March of Dimes recieves $5,000 as its share of the Brighthouse Networks Bright Community Campaign at a meeting of the Indianapolis Cable Board on Monday, August 15th.
The Bright Community Campaign is held annually and benefits 5 organizations in the community. In 2005 the Indiana Chapter of the March of Dimes was included in the effort. From June 18 - July 5, 2005 Brighthouse networks collected all of the fees generated from new service installations, high-speed internet installations and upgrades and reconnections and split them amongst five designated organizations.
“The March of Dimes is grateful to be included in this generous donation by Brighthouse Networks,” says Tim Arndt, March of Dimes Indiana Chapter. “They are not selling anything extra. They aren’t adding anything to a bill. It’s simple. Brighthouse Networks is donating a portion of installation fees on any new service, cable upgrade or reconnection for new or existing customers, including high speed Internet to five local charities. The March of Dimes does not receive funding from United Way or the government. It is through individuals and community minded companies, like Brighthouse Networks and others, that the March of Dimes is able to fund research and community programs that save babies’ lives.”
The March of Dimes is a national voluntary health agency whose mission is to improve the health of babies by preventing birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality. Founded in 1938, the March of Dimes funds programs of research, community services, education, and advocacy to save babies and in 2003 launched a campaign to address the increasing rate of premature birth.
