(Indianapolis, IN, September 1, 2005)— The March of Dimes Indiana Chapter announces the third annual Symposium for Nurses program, a professional education program for nurses who serve pregnant women and newborns, will be held in six communities across the state beginning this month.

The Symposiums present progressive perinatal topics for nurses from recognized experts in the field.  Topics to be covered include obesity and pregnancy, the benefits of human donor milk, hypertensive disorders and effects on the neonate, effects of perinatal depression for the mother and the latest information about March of Dimes research.

Locations and dates:

  • Merrillville on September 27th
  • Indianapolis on November 15th
  • Fort Wayne and Lafayette on November 16th
  • Bloomington on December 1st
  • South Bend on December 9th

The Symposiums for Nurses are a program exclusively for health professionals.  “The March of Dimes Indiana Chapter likes to pause on Labor Day to remember those who are on the front lines of the battle to save babies lives,” says Ernie Yeager, Indiana Chapter Coordinator of Program Services.  “We not only thank them for their efforts.  The March of Dimes works hand-in-hand with these health professionals, providing them with the knowledge they need to help them in their work. Together, we are saving babies’ lives.”

Please contact Ernie Yeager, Indiana Chapter Coordinator of Program Services at (317) 262-4668 or 1-800-844-9255 for more details or email Ernie at eyeager@marchofdimes.com. Or visit www.marchofdimes.com/Indiana and sign up online.

This program is made possible with support from events like Signature Chefs Auctions, Pink and Blue Jeans for Babies, RIDE-Bikers for Babies and other March of Dimes fundraising events held throughout the year.  Please visit www.marchofdimes.com/Indiana to find out more.
